(Anonymous) 2026-05-11 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)I'd say, I don't think it's unreasonable under ALL circumstances to be like, you just can't do this job while pregnant and so we need to find someone else, but I think a lot of the time it makes the end product suffer more to fully fire an actor than to just, work around stuff like that. Like I'd generally rather a show find an excuse for a character to only be in shots from the waist up and/or not be around for a few episodes than to kill off the character entirely without a good narrative reason.
And that's just my perspective as someone who wants shows to be good! I imagine if you like, empathize with the desire to have children or whatever, you might also think that people should be able to do that without it impacting their careers. Personally I don't really care about that. Though I do think gender equality is important, so maybe we should also start firing men who decide to have children.
