I'm sorry if it's too harsh, but, IMO, it's a pretty shallow/uncharitable take of the show. It feels like you are blinded by its aesthetics and occasional darkness, which don't seem to be to your taste (fair), and don't try very hard to see that its heart is actually very hopeful. I wouldn't have kept on watching it and wouldn't love it as much if it was as you wrote, because I actually can't watch shows that are too bleak. Torchwood was a lot harder to watch because of this. And I pretty much keep going back and forth between Buffy and Angel as my favorite show of the two. Note aside, I wonder if season 4 of Angel or season 6 of Buffy is the darkest (in term of feelings).
