It is the intrusion of "reality" in their fantasy world. Even though a connection with Earth is baked into the franchise from the cartoons, some MotU fans get really hot under the collar or really derisory if Earth is brought up in fandom discussions or in adaptations and reboots. The times Earth is brought up in-universe, aside from the episode The Rainbow Warrior, are usually in episodes that everyone seems to shit on.

That's wild. I watched the original cartoon as a kid but have never revisited it. It's such a wacky fantasy world that Earth astronauts landing in it just seems like a development that would blend right in with the rest of the insanity, haha.

I never watched the He-Man tv show, but as a kid I was a big fan of the movie. Which.... takes place on Earth. I wonder how the movie was received by the tv fans.
