[Image of text post: They should just bite the bullet and make a female James Bond. Hot, athletic, suave. She wears tuxedos with a somewhat feminine cut, drinks vodka martinis, drives sports cars, and goes by "James", because why not.

Also, because this is incredibly important to Bond for some reason, she needs to be an incredibly predatory, womanizing lesbian. Some perfectly happy married straight woman needs to become gay by the end of the movie.

We live in the future, and we can admit that all of the cool things that a Male James Bond can do are things a Female James Bond can do. But at all costs, we need to avoid making this thing feel "woke" of self-aware. If Female Bond is not exactly as toxic and awesome as any of the male ones, we will have failed, and might as well be making another franchise.]

I wholeheartedly endorse this idea for the next James Bond, but I know the franchise would never do something this cool even if they did cast a female Bond.

Which they won't.

I would happily buy a ticket for this version of Bond.

My pitch for a male James Bond is kind of the complement of this: a Bond that is still a manipulative womanizer, but in a much more calculated (and usually female-associated) way.

Instead of essentially just smoldering at women and having them fall into his bed, we get to see him being actively seductive and manipulative… having to work at figuring out what a woman wants and then performing that particular role for her. (Hell, you could have him do this for some men too and I’d be thrilled.)

I know it won’t happen, but I think it would be interesting to see a man like Bond in a more stereotypically female spy mode à la the archetype of a Mata Hari or black widow or femme fatale character.

I'd be down with that. It would definitely go against a lot of male viewers' expectations about what peak manliness looks like and their occasionally way off target expectations about what women find appealing, though, which is why it probably would never happen.

Yeah, I guess it’s part of the fantasy or wish fulfillment that Bond-as-the-ideal-man is simply effortlessly attractive to nearly all women.

That'd be cool and I wish Salt had become a franchise, or The Long Kiss Goodnight. We always get these one-off spy/assassin chick movies and no franchise.

I really thought they were angling at this in the last movie... or maybe the move before that? I was completely wrong, but I also barely remember the movie, so meh.
Either way, I would love to see a woman 007. And y'know what, why not have her be as dispicable as all the Bonds put together. Canon did basically shit with the other Double 0's so why the fuck not!
