iawtc. although I think the whole "it was less offensive that it was a misogynistic sexist purple-prose laden piece of crap before it was popular because it wasn't affecting millions of young women back then" argument has some merit.

It has a lot of merit, imo. How many kids is that shit setting back in life?

They're only kids, they don't know better, and I know their dreams and ideals come from fantasy books because I was like that as a kid too.

Exactly, vallicious! And that's my problem with it and why I speak out against it. (I mean, if I was against popular things, I wouldn't be such a big Harry Potter fan, now would I?) What worries me, scares me even, about Twilight is the way that an emotionally unhealthy, maniuplative, stalkerish relationship is held up as some beautiful ideal. Edward is a creep and the kind of guy that teenage girls should be WARNED about, not set up to adore.
