Eh, I think it's more like people are more vocal about hating Twilight because it's popular, not that people hate it because it's popular. If people could watch tv or browse websites without a thousand references to Twilight, I'm sure there wouldn't be quite so much hate for it as there is.

Personally, I was offended that such a poorly written novel got so much praise. I wouldn't really care if it wasn't shoved down my throat for so long I'm looking at you, MuchMusic.

Well, the Twilight cast came to Much and a big production got made out of it cause like A ZILLION SCREAMING FANS were there (and one of my few friends from back in high school was in that crowd, eeeesh). aside from that, I don't know.

I don't know if it was just me, but every time I flipped to MuchMusic, they had a Twilight special, or they were talking about Twilight, or they had a TWILIGHT COUNTDOWN IN THE CORNER. Head, meet desk.
