I have a secret theory... Dark originally had a much darker (haha) Downer Ending. But then Netflix made the writers change it to the slightly more hopeful, bittersweet ending that we got instead.

I like Dark for many reasons and one of them is a bittersweet ending. They could have gone a darker root, but they did not and thank fuck for that
