I don't think I've ever bought merch expecting to use it, for the same reason. If I ever get anything (very rarely) it's because I want to support the creator, and the item is a collectible at best

Kind of sad that setting expectations that low is the appropriate thing to do

Given that mass-produced logo t-shirts are now $30 (or were as of last year when I bought some) when not in Wal-mart or Kohls, and of that the only time you expect the creator get some of the money is when it's a band t-shirt you buy at the show, yeah $45 is kind of ridiculous. I've done shirts for friends and family so I've priced the kickback on my Cricut and the iron-on (I refuse to pay full price, I get the deals at Happy Crafter) and I would still struggle to justify selling a shirt at 30 let alone 45.

let me guess, the artist selling their fanart on a shirt? probaby price out extra trying to recoup everything they spent on setting up a dye-sub press. shit ain't cheap despite the fact that the output - full color prints dye sublimated individually onto a shirt - is really low quality. something you do the math on before buying the press, the fume hood, the ink, the printer, etc.

I hate this too. Really annoys me. Ordered some cute Star Wars earrings recently, were lightsabers, only they ended up being really, really tiny. Tinier than the photo even if it was to scale.

I only buy official merch in person because most of it is so low quality. I learned how to screenprint just so I can have some fan tees that won't get washed blank the first time in the laundry or are icky plasticky vinyl transfers that make the shirt move strangely while I'm wearing it.

I hate it when I buy overpriced fan merch and it's cheap quality. It makes me so mad that I spent $45 (plus shipping and tax) on t-shirts that are thin and cheap quality. And I can instead get a cheap plain t-shirt from a box store for $6 and the quality is way higher. I know the prices for merch will be inflated but surely they can at least make the quality halfway decent.

Also can I just say that SIXTY DOLLARS for a freaking t-shirt is INSANE?!?!?!!?!?!?! Yeah I passed on this once I saw how much it was going to end up being.

I've honestly fallen out of love with fanmerch after following artists on social media and attending conventions. 99% of it is cheaply outsourced from China and gets away with being overpriced because the artist has 10k Twitter followers. It all blurs together to me.

The puppy I was going to adopt fell through. I am heartbroken and I hadn't even met the girl yet! But something about her pictures said "this one. This is the one for me." But I guess it wasn't meant to be. I'm sure she's going to a lovely family. :(
