I can't remember if this was also in "97 Seconds", but House DID end up sticking his finger in a electrical socket as a way of sort of "killing himself" because he was "curious" as to whether an afterlife did exist or not. So even when he says things about how there's no God and no afterlife, he DOES NOT completely believe that. He's curious just like any other human being on this planet. Well okay, not everyone is curious. But he knows he doesn't know everything regardless as to what spews out of his mouth.

Sure, some people could argue that the only reason he wanted to be sure about the afterlife thing is to prove people wrong, to say that he's been there and there was nothing. LOL And I'm sure that was half his motive. But as someone who has seen every episode of this series so far, House acts like he doesn't believe in any of that stuff, but really, he's curious.

And if you were to watch other episodes you'd realize that it's House's MO to crush everyone's dreams anyway. =P

Well, the point of the show is that House can be a giant asshole and stomp on others' feelings/beliefs (don't remember the specific episode). If you don't like watching him as a protagonist, then you won't like the show--there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to laugh my ass off at your secret, but I couldn't get over your comment of "That's the one where House basically stomps all over the afterlife theory."

I know it's not exactly your fault, 'cause it's the only episode you've seen, but if you were to watch more of it, you'd realize he does that an awful lot. Narrowing it down like that is like saying, "That's that episode of Bones where she disses pyschology as a respectable practice" or "That's that movie of Tim Burton's that has Johnny Depp in it."

House isn't everyone's cup of tea, don't worry about it. I myself believe in an afterlife and still enjoy the show to a great extent, but then again, I'm a conservative lesbian, so I'm used to writing off the bits and pieces in life with which I do not agree. XD

Oh, come on, he wasn't saying "no one should ever be allowed to believe in anything religious ever," he was expressing his own lack of faith--or rather, as I recall, wrestling with it, as he does in many episodes. He's a complex person, he's not just "lol all religion is always stupid, the end." Admittedly, it's just a show, and IDK what you say with people like him IRL, but it sounds like you're doing more judging than he did. :\

I liked it because it's nice to see what I imagine saying to people actually being said, but. Yeah, that's why I imagine saying it. It's incredibly insensitive, especially if the person is dying.

But House is a douche and that's the entire point of the show. You either get used to it or you don't watch it. ...Normally people start off with the semi-douchey episodes so they're properly desensitized once he really starts making people cry.

Yeah, I thought House was particularly harsh in that episode. If you do decide to give it another chance, I think some good episodes to watch are "Airborne" (3x18), "Resignation" (3x22) (because it contains one of the funniest scenes in the entire show) and... oh, all of Season 4 is two very cool story arcs. But yea, those two episodes might be better.

If you give it one more chance, I'd suggest "All In" from season 2. It's cute for a House ep, you get to see what good friends House and Wilson are, and I don't think he's all that horrible to anyone. So, kind of a baby step. And yeah, missed the point.

At least the writers are perfectly well aware that House is a total asshole, and they're playing with that.

What's MUCH worse is the episode where Cuddy has a Latino guy fixing her roof, and when he tells her that he needs to stop for the day because his asthma is bothering him, she basically tells him to stop lying to her to get out of work. LOL GET BACK TO WORK YOU LAZY MEXICAN! Hey, it's not like asthma's serious or anything, right? People use it as an excuse all the time, right? Then she's all guilty for the whole damn episode because he gets sick, and we're supposed to feel all fucking squishy sorry for her.

But no, YOU'RE concerned about stuff that's actually SUPPOSED to be canon. (Unlike, "Cuddy's a racist idiot who shouldn't be a doctor.")


Seriously, if you can't handle, "House thinks religion is false comfort and false comfort is pathetic," then yeah, don't watch the rest of the show. You sound like a twat who'd complain about his behaviour after EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. Because, you know, he's always like that. That's the point.
