I don't see how Kenyako would have even worked, considering once Miyako found out Ken was the Kaiser she hated him and wasn't even willing to trust him after the Kaiser's downfall for a while. But I'm all about Daiken (who gave Ken a chance first? That's right, Daisuke).

Except that everyone, including Daisuke hated Ken when they found out he was the Kaiser. Also, Miyako was the second of the new gen chosen to forgive Ken, and she wasn't that far behind Daisuke.

Oy. I notice every time someone mentions that they like Ken/Miyako on any Digimon secret here, you pop up to complain. Let it go, already. People are allowed to like ships you don't without you telling them you think they're wrong.

Come on. You know, I am super into Daiken too, and Kenyako makes me sad because personally I don't like it, but. But. This kind of reasoning is just so silly. Miyako came to trust Ken and her trust, hard won as it was, was all the more valuable for it. She came to like him as a person despite his flaws, liking what was in his heart instead of just the superficial qualities for which she was initially so boy-crazy.

I think it's better to support other fans in the pairings they love, rather than to shoot them down and act like their preference is illogical. It's okay to say how you yourself don't see it, and even to enumerate the reasons why, but don't you see how your phrasing makes your contempt looks like sour grapes? Who is going to take your opinion seriously if you base it in bashing another perfectly well-loved pairing?

Yes, I know that, but they seem so incompatible to me. Both Miyako ad Daisuke can be loud and obnoxious, but it seems like Daisuke has something more that would appeal to Ken, and with Miyako, it would be like wading in the shallows. I just tend to have kneejerk reactions to Kenyako.

I think Digimon is the only fandom where I'm like this. I just really cannot stand Kenyako because I cannot stand Miyako, so I feel a need to react.

But seriously, and this is just personal taste, but I adore Miyako. She and Daisuke are very much alike, judgmental and emotional and stubborn. Plus, both Ken and Daisuke like her a lot. I just don't see how I could hate someone they both love, ya know?

I love Daisuke, and I love Ken, but I just can't like Miyako. Personal taste and all that, but I'm not sure I get the reasoning that says, "Well, they like her, so how can I dislike her?" Seems kind of silly to me.

It's not reasoning, it's gut emotion. I'm not trying to persuade anyone. I just really like her. Another reason I like her is that she reminds me of me, and that's not always the most logical reason either.

Plus, she's hilarious. In my personal universe she gets paired off with Koushiro and together they are like this super elite hacker couple and have wacky awesome adventures together. :)

That I can understand. It's just that I've seen the argument before, where people say "Well, character A and character B like character C, so you should too!" and it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I dunno, there's just something about her... I think its she reminds of negative aspects of myself, and I've always had self-esteem issues, so Miyako comes off as the embodiment of those. I also felt a little bad for Daisuke because his friends would tease him, but they left Miyako alone despite their smiliarities, so I feel kinda grudgey about it.

Oooh. Yes, I can makes recs. It depends a lot on what you are looking for though: sweet fluffy Daiken, or hard brutal Kaisuke (Kaizer/Daisuke)? Gimme some idea of what you want and I'll come back to this later this evening once I get out of my car. :)

Ah, okay!

Well, first some sweet fluff to cleanse the palate:

The Puddles Arc by Apple QB. This occurs just after Ken stops being the Kaizer and is at maximum emo mode. I just find it adorable.

Don't Lose Yourself, by Intrada. I really don't know how Daisuke gets away with being this clueless. Ken somehow copes.

The Lefthand Path by Irhista Lhail. This is a post-post Kaizer fic, mostly all lemony.

Onjin, by Jin. The first Daiken fic I ever read. It is perhaps a bit too pat and fluffy but I love it.

Renshuu, by Megan le Fay. Kissing just for practice.

No Rules For This, by kyuuketsukirui. Daisuke is a super dork, as per usual.



And now for some longer works!!


Fine Art, by Faded Jae. Tragically incomplete but excellent characterizations.

Ground Level, by Aphrael and Louise. This links to all of Aphrael’s fics, but Ground Level is an excellent longer AU fic and I highly recommend it. (“Whipped” is also a great choice, especially if you want explicit smut)

The Walls Between, by Kinslayer. Full disclosure: Kin is my best friend. But this story is epic and wonderful and very, very tragic.

Yami, by Ainokitsune. Another friend of mine, another ridiculously sad story. TBH a bit too hard for me to read, because it is so sad, but it is amazingly well written.

I suppose I could also mention that I too write Digimon fanfic. Some people have called it good. You could try Reflections, which is not complete because I am in the middle of rewriting it. This one is miraculously not slated to be a tragedy.

Also: you may enjoy Courage and Kindness: the Daisuke/Ken ship manifesto. It's one fan's defense of the pairing.
