Protip: When dismissing dissent against communism, always call the OP an American. Only Americans would say communism is dumb.

So, got any stellar examples of communist countries? The idea isn't so bad, but put into practice, a terrible one that never works out the way it was intended.

I'm British, actually. And it's not so much the communism (I'm actually fairly socialist myself), but the supporting communism because of an anime character.

Oh, okay. On the one hand works of art (anime included) can influence people towards political beliefs - I probably wouldn't be the pacifist I am today if not for Gundam and Kenshin and a few other series.

...on the other hand, Hetalia is a light-hearted history webcomic, not a passionate argument for communism. And if anyone becomes marxist because of Ivan they're a complete idiot. x.x

Until the corporations realize they can make everything for cheaper and cheaper and cheaper until it doesn't actually work and people will still pay for it--will actually pay more, in the long run, because of planned obsolescence. I suppose that's innovation after a fashion. But when the pursuit of gain is the only (or main) regulator of the economy, it will land us--well, where America has recently landed.
