Some people love it and some people hate it. Some people basically lost their love for the show over it. I wish it had never happened solely because of what it did to the fandom.

I just keep rewatching the first two seasons. Especially the second season. Their moments are often so subtle and fleeting but somehow that's just utterly perfect for them anyway, because that's what their relationship is in the end.

I have to be honest, this remains my big feeling about it (and many other big reveals/twists/general huge events in TW). That and it showed me that for so many of my friends no, continuing to play in fandom wasn't enough.

The show's pretty much been dead to me since the end of Fragments and I'm still having a good time. I don't get why so many of my friends insisted on flouncing out of fandom after it happened.

Yeah I'm still playing in the sandbox, I'm just avoiding the kid in the corner that likes kicking everyone else's castles over. :P I can sympathise with people struggling with their muses over it but actual diva flounces tend to make me just lol madly, usually. I think the people I know who've been struggling are still around and still trying, at least.

It makes me annoyed because so many people I knew did, or else just went silent to the point I have virtually no one to hang out with when I'm playing in Torchwood fandom. My main remaining fandom friend is hanging around, but rarely reads fic, won't read any of the novels that she hadn't read before CoE, doesn't write fic or take part in discussions anymore and I still cannot mention CoE to her, especially Ianto's death.

Fair enough, it's depressing to have your favourite character die (2008 was a rubbish year for me as far as TV was concerned; all my favourites died, left or just disappeared...), but it's almost six months later and I am all out of sympathy for her.

I don't blame it all on Ianto; CoE had a certain finality to it that seems to have killed the fandom a little (no excuse as far as I'm concerned - I mean it's been how long since Buffy ended?). It almost has me looking forward to season four, if only because it might rouse the fandom a bit.

Yeah, Gwen+baby will surely bring the fandom back to life.

Yes, because that's all season four is going to be, Gwen and her baby. They won't have Jack or aliens or new team members, will they?

I'm serious, I'm sure it will bring the fandom back to life, even if it will look very different. We'll probably see a completely different side of Gwen that might appeal to more people, lots of people are probably going to spend time writing fic about Gwen, Jack and the baby becoming a family, we'll get future!fic about the baby growing up and becoming a member of Torchwood. Lots of stuff.
