And, while not very active, 1) given the source material's status, the very fact that the fandom is still alive is a marvel to behold and 2) the boards are always ready to
dissect*cough* discuss any new input by members old and new. Even trite questions recently gave rise to interesting discussions. If people want to talk about Myst, there's still room to talk about Myst.3:57÷60 and that's final. u_u
Aaaaaand... that 'metaphor for storytelling' that OP rants about was kinda dropped between Myst and Riven imho and, while certainly part of the series' appeal, it's not even one of its main themes nowadays. O_o And they're not pocket universes, jeez.
