GOD. YES. WHY. WHY. I DON'T SEE HOW ANYONE COULD BUY THOSE THINGS. EVEN IF THEY WERE CHEAP, THEY'RE FUCKING CREEPY.

Wow, two doll secrets in one post. I am elated.

Ohnoez #11 Just Doesn't Understand!!!11 Haha, seriously though, I get so amused when people say us BJD people are "crazy". It's no different from people who spend thousands of dollars on like, baseball cards or something. At least you can actually play with the dolls.

...not like I'm denying being crazy though, nope, not at all. >><<

#10: PIX PLZ, LAWL.

11) I live vicariously. A few of my friends have them, and post absolutely gorgeous pictures of their dolls, which I adore. Even if I had that kind of money I wouldn't buy one. I'm content with looking. 8)

...Though, yeah, it is rather insane to spend that kind of dough on a doll. Better than real drugs though, I'd say. If it makes them happy. X);

16) Ditto. Very, very ditto.

11. I've wanted a dollfie in the past mainly because it would be awesome for anime figure drawing ... however, if you can't afford one, just don't. I have friends all of whom I love dearly who own several of these now and I have no idea how they pay for them. Likewise, when said friends complain about financial woes I can't really feel much sympathy for them. I've sold a lot of stuff that I liked when I was in a financial bind. Cosplay, doujinshi and even a VOLKs OOAK doll I had commissioned. If you have the disposable income to buy one of them, that's just fine ... but most people do not.

I remember over on the cosplay.com Animazement forum a few years ago they were trying to organize a dollfie panel and one girl commented asking how anyone could afford them and another replied, 'I live on near poverty level and still managed to buy one by skimping on things like food.' Just ... wtf, mate? I'm sure by poverty she means she's a college student going on loans ... does she really need a $600 doll?

So yeah, if you can afford one and such and will continue to be able to afford one in the future, by all means buy it. But don't buy them if you can't afford them and then complain about having no money and refuse to sell the thing to get money.

2. I'd totally do that.

13. I always just wanted to hit Tritter upside the head. XD But yeah, I guess he was pretty entertaining. My personal wish is that they continue with all the House/Cuddy they've been hinting at. >>

[identity profile] dots.livejournal.com 2007-04-23 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. I like how 10 and 11 are right next to each other like that.

9. I've been in love with Apolo since the Olympics, too. I have icons of him that I'm going to bust out someday.

I... I want that doll. D:

#11...

[personal profile] katsu 2007-04-23 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, it's your money, spend it on what you want. Everyone's got a hobby that other people no doubt think is weird. Though my empathy dries up when it's people spending money on dolls instead of their bills.

But christ on toast, those things are fucking creepy.

I don't go to many cons any more. When I do, I spend a lot of time hiding behind a book or staring at the ceiling because people walk around with those things on their shoulders and is creeps the hell out of me. ;_; CREEPY BLANK EYES.

I don't mind if people want to play with their dolls. I've got a couple friends that are in to those (wow I don't get it) but they're nice enough to filter their picture posts about dolls or at least put them behind the LJ cut.

I wish dolls were that easy to avoid at conventions.

[identity profile] advocate.livejournal.com 2007-04-23 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I have one, and it's the most amazing thing I've ever blown money on.

Or rather, my mom's money. Small details. I love being on crack, apparently. ♥

[identity profile] stormbringer986.livejournal.com 2007-04-23 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
11. Seriously. I don't really feel like flaming their pictures (I don't care enough, to be honest) but I think it's ridiculous to spend that kind of money on a doll.
