Well, y'know... you and (me and) the creator of the movie. I know it doesn't always count for much in fandom, but hey, at least you know you're right.

I mean, this might be one of those 'your corner of fandom is Opposite Land' things, but seriously? More people ship Shosanna/Zoller than Shosanna/Marcel? She shot Zoller! To stop him coming on to her! I think that's a fairly definitive 'no'.

I really hate to say this, but I've seen fandom go to further lengths than that to avoid interracial shipping and black men in general. If the fangirls think that Zoller is cute, that's going to be enough for them. He's so misunderstood! He's a hero! He truly loves her!

Actually, uh. Tarantino has basically admitted to shipping Shoshanna/Zoller. He said "I think of that scene as a romantic scene. It’s Romeo and Juliet. Those bullets? That's them consummating their relationship. In any other time in the 20th century, they could have been in love. Except for that one time." And that bugs me so much, because not only is Shoshanna/Zoller creepy in my mind, I'm firmly convinced that Romeo and Juliet is one of the worst examples of "eternal love" of ALL TIME. But I digress.

Yeah, well Tarantino also made the Basterds the heroes of the movie when, really, all they did was nearly fuck up Shoshanna and Marcel's brilliant plan. Not surprised he would take Zoller about to force himself on Shoshanna as a sign of his "love."

Well actually Tarantino also said that whether the Basterds were really heroes were up to the viewer's interpretation. I personally have mixed feelings about them, especially towards the Bear Jew. The fans always seem to root for him to bludgeon another /human's/ head to a bloody pulp, but that always turned my stomach. Are we really supposed to root for a soldier who tortures the enemy?
