On the one hand I want to agree but I hope a lot of the sexist/arsehole stuff that he said was years ago and not relevant to his opinion anymore. Or he was just deliberately trying to get a reaction.

On the other hand...Moff hasn't written an ending that involves giving a girl a CLONE and calling it a happy ending.

Also I do find the squee for Moff a little annoying, especially all the "yay I can start watching again!" comments. Look, I'm sure he's going to do stuff as head writer that we'll all find shit and complain about. It just annoys me that people tend to forget there are some good RTD moments, they just got less frequent as the series went on. But yeah, he's not evil incarnate and Moff isn't going to save us from all the wank. I'm sure the fandom will continue wanking when series 5 airs. We're a pro fandom when it comes to wank, we can't stop now!

No, but he did write an ending that involves giving a woman two cloned children. ;)

This is true, I didn't bring that up because I was pointing out that RTD has had his "woah, seriously?" moments and the clone thing was one of them. I don't think he's particularly good at writing women either. Which of the two is worse is up for debate but as far as I know Russell has never called women clingy at any point in his past.

Don't get me wrong, I do have issues with River's ending, very much so. Mostly that as a woman who is not at all interested in having kids...for once I'd like to see a so-called perfect existence in fictional work (for a woman) that doesn't involve children.

Yeah. I pretty much agree with what you're saying anyway: both RTD and Moffat definitely have their issues. As arrogant as RTD can be, I have to say that I find his remarks less disturbing than some of Moffat's though. I also tend to like RTD's female characters better, but to be fair, Moffat never had a chance to write a proper companion before (since all his characters were one-offs), so we'll see how he does with that.

But like you said, either way there'll be wank. ;)
