I think a problem with people who constantly go looking for subtext might have is that looking that hard at or for anything tends to make you miss the obvious.

"You can tell something's going on there, look how close they are!"

"They finish each others sentences, they have little private jokes..."

"They're so comfortable around one another, it's like one only has to look at the other to know what they're thinking."

There's a lot to be said for just being able to enjoy something as is, if you ask me, without having to try and make it something else. But I suppose some people would consider that boring. All I know is, in my entire life, I've never once seen something that I came away from thinking it would have been better if it hadn't lacked incest.

ngl, I had an incest ship once... but it was kind of a bait-and-switch thing where the series didn't reveal that they were related until they'd had a bunch of very ambiguous interactions.
