LJ must be burping. 7 now. (Man, first this, and then they fuck up my inbox for PMs? Not cool LJ.)

As I said before, she explained it very well. Read over any PMs or anything she wrote to you and it'll say there. There are ways to respond or react to someone, and some ways seriously don't cut it.

And if you notice, since you're also apart of another comm she mods, she hasn't banned you there (and that comm is completely for adult discussions).

[identity profile] fairest1.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
12 this time. *pokes LJ*

"I banned you because I didn't appreciate what I felt was an attack on my country that came out of nowhere combined with a holier-than-thou attack on me. While you didn't break any of the listed rules, I didn't feel comfortable having you in the community feeling that way about me.

I have no personal problem with homosexuality, but because I choose to not have it rampantly in my community, I'm branded a homophobe or prude. I do understand that not all slash is graphic. I do understand that some of it can be light-hearted and awesome. But I also understand that allowing it can open the floodgates. I have not had many good experiences with slash fans. The ones that have been in the community for years have not given me a problem in the past, but these new ones are trouble. Part of the reason I don't want slash in disney_faeries is that I don't want to encourage them. I just don't want to deal with that whole mess again, as I have elsewhere. So yes, that part of it is selfish. I don't want them there. They cause problems. I did run everything through with my mod team and we all agree on this.

The other part of the reason is as follows. Ask yourself this: would Disney in this current day and age release a movie with two openly gay characters in the lead roles? The answer is no. We only JUST got a black princess. Only JUST this past December. So in Disney terms, slash is not family-friendly. Therefore, it simply is not something we need to have in a general community for this fandom, especially now that there is another place it can be posted freely. That's the decision my fellow mods and I came to and that's what we're sticking with. We don't care if it costs us members."

This does not strike me as the best of reasons; I hadn't said anything against America, merely stated that I'm Canadian and feel that a same-sex couple holding hands wouldn't go against a 'Family Friendly' policy. And seriously, she could've just gone with a 'Nothing further than hand holding, regardless of genders' and everyone would accept that as a reasonable kid-friendly rule and only post genfic to the main community. Any attempt to explain myself was prevented by her blocking me from not only commenting on the DF community, but even PMing her.

I want to say 3 this time, but then it resent your comment twice. So 5.

I banned you because I didn't appreciate what I felt was an attack on my country that came out of nowhere combined with a holier-than-thou attack on me.

And that's it. You were banned because you were acting condescending and your comment on how Canada is so much better because your country allows homosexual marriage. Like it's not an ongoing fight in America and supporters haven't gotten flack for it.

Also, what she was saying is this - in terms of Disney, slash, even holding hands, is not 'family-friendly.' For a general community, especially now that there is a community that is for fanworks of Disney fairies, this won't be allowed. While she could have said, "nothing further than hand-holding," you and I both know someone with other intentions would have tested those limits or anything about that rule and she nipped that in the bud.

And I think the PM thing is another LJ glitch. I'm having trouble PMing people and even getting them or finding my inbox. Have you tried e-mailing her?

[identity profile] fairest1.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
11.

But that's the thing -- I didn't attack her. And the community is international; I don't see why the rules should be limited by American laws that even she disagrees with.

Banning people before even making it a rule isn't nipping it in the bud. It's cutting it off at the stem and salting the roots.

It's not the glitch; I've sent other PMs without any problems, and this one specifically told me she'd blocked my PMs.

[identity profile] dreaming-faerie.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
5 again.

You may think that, but how you worded it came off as an attack. Also, she's going by Disney terms. She's said that before that when it came to the general community, she's going by Disney's main terms.

She was actually awaiting to see if you'd reply or any other PM from you. Can you try again now?

[identity profile] fairest1.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
11.

I find that rather odd, as it seems like every time I hear mention of Disney with regard to gays/lesbians, it's about how they're promoting the homosexual agenda. I figure keeping things G-rated and no worse than Jumba and Pleakley's relationship would be a reasonable compromise.

Huh. I suppose this'd just be an amusing misunderstanding, but with more undue resentment.

[identity profile] dreaming-faerie.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
7 now.

Really? Promoting? I'm surprised, but I wonder if it's more perceived.

I think a lot of this turned out to be a misunderstanding that exploded with emotions. As it continued on, especially with excessive bawwwing, things slightly cooled down. I think now emotions are cooled down enough where reasoning can take over.
