I have to admit this kind of..disgusts me. I suffered from MAJOR anxiety for years before figuring out what was wrong (I was still a kid) and being put on heavy-duty meds for 24/7, plus Xanax for acute panic attacks. If your anxiety is really that bad, you say fuck absolutely everything else and you take the drugs you need to get you through the day. End of story. This stuff, when it's needed, is NOT optional, and I'm sick of people thinking anti-anxiety meds and similar aren't just as absolutely necessary as blood thinners or inhalers or insulin. If you need it, for fuck's sake, take it! If what you have now inhibits basic function to such an extent, talk to your doc about switching to something similar.

Sorry to go off on you, anon, I just see stuff like this way too much and it really, really bothers me.

Oh, fabulous. Just what this thread needed, someone deciding who is "really" sick, and who isn't. If you can function EVER without meds, you don't need them, eh?

Just a thought, oh-so-thoughtful anon...but have you considered the idea that some people can have multiple co-morbid conditions? Someone might have a milder anxiety-related condition that they might otherwise be able to cope with without medication, if they didn't also have other issues draining their spoons - making anti-anxiety meds something which is sometimes necessary for them and sometimes not.

Sorry to go off on you anon, but - oh, no, wait. I'm not sorry! It's not your call whether other people "need" meds or not - it's theirs and their doctor's.
