14. Wait, what's there to complain about? The only real inconsistancy I found was the picture of Yggdrasill that would ruin who he really was later on, but I'm positive that they'll make it make sense when the time comes.

I dunno about these complainers, but me and everyone I know are masturbating furiously to these OVA trailers. Especially me. (Figurativley, of course.)

11. YES YES AND YES.

There is rape and many other disturbing themes, but it's all crucial to the plot or characters in some way, and it's all very well-written. If you've got a strong stomach, go for it.

Shh, you know when ___ is raped and traumatized as a little boy by a gross deformed man, it was all about fanservice and not about plot :D

I THOUGHT IT WAS ALL FURRIES.

There have been all kinds of scene changes and editions, and this is just from watching trailers. There was no way things were going to be identical, but this OVA is turning into a Colloyd Fan Video, not Tales of Symphonia - The Animation.

You think they might be focusing on Lloyd and Colette because - let's see - they're the main characters? Besides, Kratos got a bunch of appearances in said trailers as well, but I don't see you complaining about that.

Trust me, I used to be a canon nazi too, but if you want to see what happened in the game, play the game, because the OVA is most certianly going to be a creatively-liscenced adaption of the game rather than a direct port from game disk to DVD.

And no, this is not because I love Lloyd/Colette.

That's not what I said. It's not about focusing on those two characters, it's about accuracy to what they relationship actually is in-game. The OVA isn't reflecting that.

I understand that, for a storyline originally designed to be viewed in a game format to then be made into an animation, certain things would need alteration. But the character's personalities and relationships shouldn't come under that.

Namco has officially stated in its other crossover Tales franchises (Narikiri Dungeon, Tales of Fandom Gaiden, etc) that there is at least a romantic tension between the two. Colette's path is the easiest to get for a reason. Half of the game Lloyd goes on and on about "waaaah I want to save Colette I'm gonna risk our lives and the entire world to save her" and Colette's all "Lloyd's my most favoritest person in the whole wide world 8DDDDDD".

No, I don't think that this is an inaccurate portrayal of the way Namco intended their relationship to be like, regardless of whether you like the pairing or not. ~~Quite frankly, if they included some Zelos/Colette tension as well as the Lloyd/Colette, I could die happily. For realzies.~~

But yes. SERIOUS BUSINESS aside, I have a feeling I'm gonna be one of the only ones to really love the OVA because I'm wierd. Woe. >:

I was trying to keep my personal preference to one side here, but since you've mentioned it - I do like the pairing, but in the same way that I like how all the potential relationships are portrayed.

No matter what canon you follow, Colette loves Lloyd. That's 100% canon, 100% acceptable to me. It's implied time and time and time again, and there's nothing wrong with that. If you follow the Colette path, then Lloyd seems to grow to return these feelings.

However, at the start of the game, Lloyd is fairly hard-headed on the issue. And should you follow just about any other path, he remains that way. Lloyd cares about Colette a great deal, but there are nine versions of this game, and it would be nice to see the OVA make more of an effort to retain that. The manga has remained suitably ambiguous, from what I've seen of it, despite changes it's been forced to make to the plot.

Even if you do follow the Colette path, Lloyd does not begin the game being madly in love with Colette. It's something that develops between them. The OVA is pushing for the pairing, and not even in the same way the game portrayed it.

Uh. I'm going to take anonymous off, because it's probably becoming kinda obvious who this is by now DX The only reason I responded anonymously in the first place was to remain consistent with the comment I'd left earlier in the post, but now I feel like a bit of a duh XD

ANYWAY, saying I'd rather have no OVA than an innaccurate one was maybe a little bit strong. I'm sure the OVA is going to be wonderful, and I really do like Lloyd/Colette. I just really do with the animation could try a little harder to preserve more of the game's own ambiguity. Lloyd really is, bless him, a blockhead when it comes to romance - he's not just bad at being romantic, he seems to have the sex drive of a rock 99% of the time XD So seeing him blushy and woeful at being denied his love-of-loves does sit a little weirdly, to me. I miss 'ndurr' Lloyd, who was smart at all the right times, but such a duh all the same.

It's really the Yggdrasill thing that bothers me more than anything else, though, if I'm quite honest. WHAT ARE THEY DOING?

Hahaha, sorry, that got really rambly. To summarize the postive points though, I will enjoy the OVA. But... I think I'm going to end up enjoying it on the sidelines, the way I'd enjoy a really amazingly elaborate Lloyd/Colette fanfiction. Because, made by Namco though it is, it's detracting one of my favourite things about Tales of Symphonia, and that makes me a little sad inside.

I'm sorry. ;_____; I totally didn't get what you said. I had a little bit of a "wait he never did this in the game" moment during the 4th trailer too, but quickly pushed it away in favor of OMFG MY PAIRING IT IS CANON *___* and well.

I dunno, something me and my friends all enjoy when we play through the game together is that there kinda isn't a definitive canon? And yeah, it obviously is easiest to get Colette as Lloyd's soulmate, because dang, they've grown up together, and go through so much together, and it only makes sense that they'd be damn close.

But the fact that it's canonically possible to build up these alternative scenarios and relationships is something we all really loved, you know? It's just so fun not having a set 'THIS IS THE ANSWER, HERE IT IS, THIS IS HOW THE GAME SHOULD BE >O'

PLUS THE YGGDRASILL THING I KEEP COMING BACK TO IT BUT AUGH WHAT THE HELL DDDX

Ahem. Really though, I should be grateful for one obvious thing at least. Colette path = not Kratos path = no redhead death auugh. Not that I'm letting my guard down yet >|
