Well...
Mulan wasn't 100% accurate either, but Pocahontas made it seem like all the Native Americans and European settlers lived happily ever after and sort of whitewashes over a few hundred years of genocide. Mulan had that problem with the dehumanized Mongolians or whatever, but other than that, it wasn't nearly as bad

It has nothing to do with Americans and their "sacred" history, WTF

ETA: Also, putting the historical inaccuracies aside, Mulan was a better movie than Pocahontas. I liked the songs in Mulan more, too

As far as historical innacuracies go, I really don't have a problem leaving out the overarching story of American/Native American history, since the movie is a romance about one girl. I don't expect any other light comedy to address historical context much, so I can let that slide. But Pocahontas was pretty inaccurate even in regard to the actual girl the movie was about, not just the greater context. As others have mentioned, she wasn't an adult IRL, but again, whatever (13 may have been an appropriate age for romance in 1600, but it would be creepy now)... I remember finding it pretty silly that the movie made it seem like Pocahontas couldn't leave her special homeland even for *true love* when we all know that Pocahontas married an English man and died in England. To me, if you are fictionalizing a real person it's more important to be accurate, at least about that particular person. Mulan wasn't real, so while I still don't care about historical context so much, I also don't really care about the "facts" relating to her life/personailty either. Cause she's fake.

I'm pretty sure that sequel exists. And then she goes to England and gets pissed off at bear-baiting or something and then I've blocked the movie from my memory.
