Utegate's pretty recent (mid-2009), it was such a bizzare story it practically satirized itself, provided a lot of material for comedians, and is probably one of the reasons Abbott is now opposition leader. Ugh.

Ah, I don't watch much news, it's too depressing now days. :( (I assume it's like a large scale version of the bat insolation bunge that's happened in the last month but with utes?)

Ugh, our government's become more and more disillusioned with reality these days, but I can't stop watching due to some sense of morbid facinatin. The election campaign should to be interesting.

Nah, the utegate thing...in short, the opposition (specifically Turnbull) accued Rudd of granting favours to a private company which had given him a ute during the '07 election. Turnbull claimed to have email evidence of this. The email turned out to be a fake (forged by a member of the opposition), which left the Liberal party with a lot of egg on their face.
