Well, here comes the whole gist of the OP's secret, doesn't it? I give a shit about it. I like American history. And I think it's important to track the history of political corruption in the executive branch. It's made an impact in the way that Americans relate to their government and leaders.

So, who are you to say what's a "sweeping theme"? I happen to think that American mistrust in their government is a sweeping theme, but... okay. So you're not an American history buff. It all has to do with perspective. And not making generalizations.

As for "not being an American history buff", I'll be a high school history teacher within a year, and you don't have you lecture me. The Teapot Dome scandal may be important in the larger picture of how Americans interact with their government, and scandal and corruption may be larger themes, but the Teapot Dome scandal itself is very small in the entire scope of American history, and knowledge of singular events like it are an unfair judge of a person's overall education in American history. Shit, it hasn't even shown up in my coursework since AP History in high school.

Oh well if I had known you were going to be a high school history teacher, then I'm sure I would have tailored my answer to fit the grand standard to which you are being held.

I don't know if the Teapot Dome Scandal has been small in the entire scope of US history. I could debate that. But it's not even the point of the original argument, which is that things are always in perspective, especially history. And that comparing US history to Chinese history is problematic. And comparing real history of human events to literary history (like Mulan) is like comparing apples and oranges.

hahah jesus, y u so mean, girl? I'm just letting you know that having an opinion about the relative negligence of some events doesn't mean I know nothing about history, and that I'm actually working on a degree, so you shouldn't assume I'm an idiot just because our opinions differ. Fuck, if my point were to impress you, I'd have invented something a little more glamorous, don't you think?

And I think it is. That was the point of our initial discrepancy, no? And we each have our opinions, so, done.

If I were to make a generalization on Americans based on your comments in this thread, I'd think they were all self-aggrandizing douches with passive-aggressive tendancies.

Yes, sir or lady: you are such a douche that a random commenter who was actually interested in the discussion before you joined in went out of his or her way to call you one. Congrats!

What is this? Are you trying to school me or something?
