"Russian" is not a race. And it might be a good idea to learn some real history before attacking others with a distorted and highly offensive parody of it.

Your lack of knowledge of current geopolitical reality is laughable, but I can't say it's surprising. (no, not because you're Russian, because you've repeatedly shown yourself to be incapable of applying any view other than a black-and-white, us-versus-them mentality to the way nations interact.)

You probably also believe that Iraq was hoarding weapons of mass destruction and was a danger to the whole civilized world and that's why George Bush Jr. just *had* to wage the recent war against it. You really need to stop watching all the TV.

I don't watch TV, there are no reasonable people in the world who believe that Iraq was hoarding weapons of mass destruction, and I spent the entirety of George W. Bush's presidency waiting for the day when I'd be able to vote him and people like him out of office. Nice attempt at painting all Americans with the same brush, though! You're not prejudiced, we really are like this.

(And I'll reiterate: Russian isn't a race. American isn't a race. I do not care what race or nationality you are, uninformed comments are uninformed comments.)

Russian is an *ethnicity* though. Ethnic hatred is often referred to as racism, though maybe not where you live.

Well, I am American and don't make much of a secret of it, so the assumption wouldn't have bothered me if you'd made it, as I thought you had. Anyway, yes, I think that's probably a miscommunication and quibbling about nationality isn't really going to get us anywhere.

Ethnic hatred is often referred to as racism, though maybe not where you live.
I think this is probably a matter of regionalism; in American English "racism" is used to refer to discrimination along racial lines, race being defined not as ethnicity but as a larger group that shares physical and (sometimes) cultural traits. (or it may not be, I'm no sociologist.) We usually call ethnic hatred just that--ethnic hatred, ethnic conflict. It's bigotry, but not racism.

There are modern examples of ethnic hatred and crimes referred to as racist. Say, what would be worse in America: to be referred to as a bigot, or as a racist? I have got the impression it's the latter.

Which ones? The only one that comes immediately to mind is apartheid, which was a racist policy.

Racism is a subset of bigotry, but I think most Americans would find it more offensive to be called a racist, if only because of the loaded political context that word has here.
