Dude, we all have Mary Sue/self-insert fantasies. Most of us have the sense to know they don't translate into fic well. Writing a new character (of either gender) is one of the tougher things a writer can pull off, there just isn't a gaurenteed connection to the audience the way there is in our heads. Many of the things that make a character interesting in our heads will leave an audience feeling embarrassed or bored.

No one cares if you rub one out to slash or not. That's between you and your nether bits.

I always feel awkward reading self-insert fic, because it's such an intimate peek into the author's fantasies. It feels like I'm peeking at them while they masturbate. Self-insert porn fanfiction is even worse.

I hate this! I hate it so much! Some girl actually left a long, ranting comment on a fanart a drew about how drawing her favourite character together with anyone but her oc was WRONG and EVIL, and could I maybe stop drawing my favourite couple and draw a picture of her oc kissing the character instead, BECUS ITS MUCH BETER AND THEY R THE PERFECT COUPLE LOL.
