As a major Asch fan, I have to say that I do not mind your opinion at all!
And I'm even happier that you don't flame him publicly or others for their opinions, so I really hope that others can grant you the same respect as you do them.

16. Holy shit I know you don't I. I tried to watch TTGL but Yoko annoyed the shit out of me. Actually the whole anime annoyed the shit out of me. Thanks again, 4chan. GIVE ME ANOTHER REASON TO TRY IT AGAIN. It looks nice and beautifully animated, but my god everyone going "OMG TTGL IS AMAZING AND ANY OTHER ANIME THIS SEASON SUCKS DONKEY COCK" makes me not want to touch it ever again.

5. Honestly, his backstory made me want to feel sorry for him. Yeah, it was angsty, but I generally tend to want to hug the angsty characters and make them feel better. I just couldn't get to like Asch, though. His personality really turned me off.

Someone that I know is constantly complaining about canon and how it is not how it should be. When I know the series, the personality quirks that she talks about is actually from her own inference and not actually really said in the series. Like, all Vincent does is be dramatic with cape swishes and emo. He doesn't even care about the state of the world, or Sephiroth, or anything, just wants to get revenge on Hojo then mope about about ... whatever. I guess you could read it as that, but at the same time, I think that a majority of people think differently so her idea of canon is kind of shot out of the water. If that makes sense?

12. I have a friend like that who basically makes her interpretation of a character a self-insertion, and she gets away with it because the character is somewhat like her, like your friend. People don't know how self-inserty she is, though, because hardly anyone in the RP knows her as well as I do. :/

14. ...depends on the programming language? "!" usually means "not", sure, but I work with VB in Microsoft Access, and you can use a "!" like a "." in that language sometimes. Like, I might type Forms!frmMyReport!ReportDate to get the ReportDate from a form (or Me!ReportDate inside a form). I think it works with recordsets, too, like rs!FirstName. (DISCLAIMER: some of this syntax may be wrong, as I am le tired and not actually looking it up. But you get the idea.)

Which kind of makes more sense in the fannish context, since ReportDate "belongs" to the form?

What computer languages were popular when that showed up in fandom, anyway?

4 - You don't need to ignore canon to make your character interact with characters from other fandoms! Think about it as writing a crossover, and interacting with crossover characters. Canon characterization still applies, you're just expanding on it.

Unless you're one of those people who sees crossovers as inherently AU, I guess.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the ONLY person who thinks the entire membership of lol_meme, /b/, and Encyclopedia Dramatica are trollish assholes who, for all their protestations that trolling, spamming, flaming, and stalking are "not taking the internet seriously," are actually taking the internet a whole lot more seriously than those of us who try to have peaceful, positive interaction online.

As in, if you truly don't care about something, why vandalize it and ruin it for everyone else who does, and actively insinuate yourself into a social network with the intent of gaming the system and eventually destroying it? If you truly don't care or are only around for laughs, why don't you just go to your favorite comedy site, laugh a while, and then log off and have the wonderful real life you boast so much about?

5. Oh, completely agreed. Asch kinda redeemed himself at end, for me anyways, but he still really annoyed me. At least he's not as annoying as Sync, who, IMO, was the flatest, most boring character in the whole game.
