12. I have a friend like that who basically makes her interpretation of a character a self-insertion, and she gets away with it because the character is somewhat like her, like your friend. People don't know how self-inserty she is, though, because hardly anyone in the RP knows her as well as I do. :/

It's really annoying, isn't it. =(

The worst part is that I want to tell her about it, and tell her exactly what I find faulty in her characterization. But it will probably hurt her feelings, because she spends time complaining about it.

Well, you don't need to say who it is. If they roleplay somewhere or someone in particular, it would suffice.

The reason why I'm asking is because I would like to know if that secret is directed towards me.

I don't believe so -- I play my characters the way I feel their characterizations should be played. Not by my own personal desires for what they would do.

However, I have spoken to people about that kind of thing before and it hit home just because of the way it was worded. That's why I was wanting to know.

The only reason I'm worried about it is because I don't want to become a bad player for the character I do write for. It is very possible [and easy] to do that -- and I was worried that I might have strayed in some way.

Yeah, exactly. This particular friend has a history of taking criticism badly, so I know it won't go anywhere. I'd give more details, except I don't want to give her (or me) away.
