Maybe one day you'll feel comfortable enough in your genderqueerness (?) to be able to be in character as a female. Roleplaying is only pretending, you can try to relate to the feelings of a woman even if you are not one, just like you can play an alien, a Pokémon or a squid. A lot of my male (and mostly straight) friends are really into playing female characters. On the other hand, since RPing is something one does for fun, who cares if you don't want to play ladies. If you don't enjoy it, don't do it, who cares.
I started RPing when I was about fourteen, and it took me about four years and getting it on with a girl to feel comfortable with playing a male character. It's hard to say, but I think as someone who has never conformed to heteronormativity I had some trouble with the idea of gender, and how it was supposed to affect a person and/or character, until I realized I was wanking way too much and just decided to play them as characters, not as men, and forget about their dicks. And it worked. I've been playing dudes for years, and while I still play mostly women, I think I'm pretty okay at it.

Same here - I'm FtM transgender, but still queer in my own way (I prefer the idea of having a male body to a female one, but I don't believe in conforming to gender norms). I have tried to RP female characters and never really felt quite right. I can write them in fic perfectly fine, but somehow the act of putting on a female persona is a bit disconcerting. Part of it, though, may have to do with an incident that happened before I realized I was trans - I played a female OC in chat rooms and was accused of actually being a guy (because I hadn't ran off crying when some idiots insulted me). I just don't feel that I can play a female character, especially a feminine one, without giving her too many "masculine" traits (because I tend to fill in the holes with my own preferences).

That's rough, anon. Maybe once you get more comfortable in your own identity/presentation it'll be easier for you, but it's more important for you to feel comfortable with yourself than to write/RP ladies.

Have you ever considered writing the female-bodied characters as genderqueer? You could explore what that would be like for them, what they would struggle with. It could be interesting and possibly helpful.

Also, OT but have you ever been to http://genderfork.com/ ? I love it, and it's a great place to talk about gender spectrum and explore alternative gender opportunities. It's rad as hell, I highly recommend it!
