No, but that's the point. Unless canon specifically states that the character is 100% heterosexual or 100% homosexual or bisexual or asexual or transgendered or whatever, nobody can have a right or wrong interpretation of the characters sexuality. The OP of this thread was acting as if all characters who haven't had their sexualities explicitly stated must be treated as heterosexual. I'm not arguing against interpreting a character as heterosexual; I'm just saying that it doesn't have to be the case and writing the character as homosexual or bisexual does not necessarily violate canon. (Although, by their nature, fanworks aren't canon anyway, so it's sort of a moot point.)

I've seen what you're talking about, and yeah. It's totally fine to ship slash pairings where one person is straight, but I've seen idiots who go around saying those pairings are going to end actually being canon and I start rolling my eyes.
