oh my god.
I'm so glad he's said a few times over he doesn't make the comic for self-obsessed lifeless losers like this and the comic is a COMEDY, it's funny, it's badass, it's meant to make you laugh and not to make you fucking ship 13 year olds.

Argue amongst yourselves, whatever, I don't care. But when you start getting pissed off at the guy who actually MADE it all because it isn't like how you wish it was in your mind, holy shit you need a reality check.

Yeah dude, I didn't say anything about AH in this secret. Don't know where you got that from. I think he's awesome. I was talking about the mods at the MSPA forums. Though really, in my secret, I should have said "a lot of posters and at least one mod."

May I ask what exactly happened? What rules changed?

Basically what happened was that after it was revealed that the kids were related, Dave/Rose and John/Jade shippers either said stuff along the lines of a) "Oh well, that kinda sucks" and/or b) "Hey mods, is it okay for us to continue to post this? The rules of the thread explicitly say no incest."

However a lot of posters came in and posted as if these people had had some sort of Zutara-like meltdown. Their questions (which were valid, as the no incest clause WAS enforced really harshly) were met with derision and accusations of being obsessive and (of course) of "taking things too seriously." (The comparison of Dave+Rose/John+Jade shippers to Harmonians was especially unwarranted.) It just seemed really, really bullshit to me that some people who just wanted to follow the rules and not piss off the mods were getting made fun of, for no other reason than being shippers and taking something seriously (even if that "something" is the explicit rules of the forum).

I'm probably alone in seeing what went down in the thread this way. I get the feeling that since a lot of people on those forums are attempting to be Dave Strider-too-cool-for-your-shit types, they wouldn't have read what happened as hypocritical or inconsistent at all on the mods' parts. Shippers are pretty much reviled by everyone else on the forums anyway.

Unfortunately my secret is a little out of date. I posted it just immediately after a mod finally, explicitly said, "Posting Rose/Dave and John/Jade is an exception to the no incest rule." Since then a bunch of people have continued to come into the thread and be like "O HAI GUIZE IS INCEST OK NAO?!," IDE/Theory all over the place, and generally Not Read the Thread. This would justify at least some of the mods' bitchiness, I guess.

Ouch, yeah that's fan drama all right. I hate those kinds of dogpiles. And yeah this does seem to be a "who's cooler" pissing contest >_> It's weird how someone will take something out of context and fanwank it just to make themselves seem cooler huh?

I was just about to comment that I think most of the "calm the fuck down" was because people still continued to flip their shit after the mods okay'd it, but then I read the bottom of this post.

However, I still didn't appreciate betelgeuse's "holier than thou" approach on the whole matter. Especially after Andrew was like promoting the romantic implications of his work due to upping their ages to thirteen like he said on forumspring.

Just because it's a comedy means it's pathetic to ship things whaaaat.

The reason I don't think they should be worried is because he's going to throw in another twist.

My problem isn't that shippers were worried about whether their own pairings had become squicky to them or not. That is frankly, irrelevant and something people need to deal with on their own. I ship Dave/Rose and don't care about the incest; others may have shipped Dave/Rose and stopped because of the incest. All the people IDE/theorying in the romart thread were being way off-topic.

My problem is that the shippers in the romart thread who were worried that they might get in trouble or banned for posting certain things were made fun of.

Ugh so apparently my secret is not clear enough for people to understand I'm trying to say. I do not care about this or that pairing being "ruined." I do not care what anybody thinks about fictional incest. And most of all, I certainly do not think that Andrew Hussie is "evil" or "wrong" for "ruining" any ships. He can do whatever the hell he wants. It's his story. This secret isn't about MSPA, the webcomic. It's about the MSPA forums.

What I do care about? People asking politely whether they can continue to post images featuring certain pairings, because they are afraid of getting in trouble with the mods, and then being made fun of for wanting to make sure that they weren't breaking any rules. Apparently, having the gall to care whether or not one will get banned is now mockworthy.

Also it just seemed incredibly fucking rude for people who were not regulars of the romart thread to come in and crow over other peoples' misfortunes.

Just sayin', I think you're overreacting a bit? But that's probably because this secret is a week old, and you probably wrote it right after the bomb went off. Which is understandable.

I didn't go into the thread myself, just took one look at it to see how everyone was holding up, saw Betelgeuse make a comment about how it's still okay to draw these pairings because so many people were already invested in them, and then left. One mod I can think of kinda... rules with an angry iron fist sometimes, and I'm pretty sure you know who I mean there, but I've found the forums to be an okay place overall. The whole pairing thing felt (to me, as an occasional poster) out of character for the forum, and it probably won't happen again. The mods must have been getting frustrated with trying to contain it blah blah making excuses.

Never come across the sincerity problem before. Explain?
