I wouldn't be surprised if Steven Moffat threw us a curveball and revealed that the Doctor had returned to Amelia. He loves kids as much as he loves being sneaky.

Agreed on both points! And I never even considered bb!Rory! Now I'm hoping for a flashback or something. That would make my life.

Ohhh, I really hope that he did! It certainly seems like something that he'd do (Moffat writing that, I mean). I hope it pops up sometime during this series, or at least gets mentioned.

We should make a petition for bb!Rory. :D I think it'd be great if we could get a better look into their past. They made several vague mentions to a rather turbulent childhood for Amelia (four psychiatrists that she all bit, parents who died of unknown causes at a young age, and an aunt who left her alone at night- not to mention the doubtless teasing from other kids about the "imaginary" Doctor) and it would be really cool if they explored that, if only briefly, as well as her relationship with young Rory. He said she made him dress up when they were younger, which makes me think he was either already crushing on her, or a bit of a push over. I'm guessing that it's the former, considering he stuck by her for so long and put up with playing Doctor. (Ironic, that he ended up trying to become a medical doctor after pretending to be the alien Doctor.) He may be a bit awkward at times, but he's really quite the cool and loyal guy, if given a little extra thought. (AND SCREEN TIME. RORY NEEDS MORE SCREEN TIME! D: )

Annnnd I'm rambling. *cough* TL;DR: Flashbacks with bb!Amy and bb!Rory would be hella tight and introspective awesome.

fjdlsafds; Do you have my brain? These are precisely the things I've been thinking! I absolutely adore Amy, crazy redheaded spitfire that she is, but I can't help but wish that we knew more about her other than a history of failed psychotherapy, a childhood penchant towards creating her own toys, and that her aunt is mysteriously never around. I'm not sure if backstory is on the menu for this series; Moffat seems to enjoy tossing the characters into crazy adventures, not allowing much time for revelatory conversations.

I mean, it's not that pre-2005 companions had much more backstory. Until Rose came along, I don't think much time was spent at all fleshing out the assistants. Davies' style of character-driven stories definitely spoiled us a bit in that regard.

I'm really enjoying all the Rory going on in the latest episodes. I'm glad they brought him on as a second companion and I would love to see him fleshed out more too. Even so, he feels much less mysterious than Amy. Probably because he's much more transparent regarding what he wants.

Oh hay, now I'm rambling too. In short: bb!Amy + bb!Rory, plz. Kthx.

Yes. Yes I do. I keep it in a jar on the dresser; it makes a lovely centerpiece, you know. I've actually gotten a lot of compliments on it.

Yes, exactly! I know that there are some people who don't like her, but I love what I've seen so far of her. But that's the whole problem, it's just so far. We're getting lots of juices glimpses of her story, but it's never enough to satisfy. *sigh* And as much as I do like the fact that we're getting lots of cool adventure story-ness, I do with he would put in a bit more chatter. (One of the few shows I know of where it's that instead of vice-versa.)

To be completely honest I'm a very, very new fan, and I've only currently seen a few episodes of Ten and all of Eleven. D: But I'm actually picking up the box set for Nine tomorrow so I can start getting caught up properly on all the New-Who before I go back and start on the Classic-Who. Sooo... I don't really feel like I can comment properly on this bit yet. Clearly I need to watch more television.

I'm really excited to see what tomorrow (today's?) new episode is going to bring for Rory- especially as the spokesperson for 'some' of the people of Earth. I'm guessing he's going to stumble around the role for a bit before really shining through at the end, which-if I'm right- should be a fun thing to see. At first I was a little unsure of Rory joining in, but after I saw the sword and broom fight in VoV I completely changed my mind. Though I'd love it if we got some more information of Rory's past, I sadly don't think that we will, because he is a bit transparent and very straightforward when it comes to what he wants, and therefore apparently has nothing to hide. (Or DOES HE? Dun dun DUNNN. If you go with the theory that Leadworth is in fact the town that time forgot and that his badge wasn't a mess up and he actually is from 1990... Oh ho ho! Gotta wonder how no one around him noticed it though. ...I spend way too much time on the interwebz looking up essentially useless information, I think.)

There have been a lot of deleted scenes so far; hopefully when the DVDs are released, they'll be returned and we'll have more of the chatter. I know there was a cute scene between the Doctor and Amy from The Hungry Earth that was removed, sadly enough. :/

Moffat just pumps too much action and adventure into his episodes and then we don't have any time for chatter. Boo.

I'm a very new fan as well. I believe I first started watching back in March? Since then, I've become BFFs with TARDIS Wikia and soaked up as much of the show as possible, including classic episodes. I've become pretty obsessed; it's a bit sad!

I finally saw Cold Blood. And because I'm not sure if you have (and because this is a public forum) I'm not going to comment on it, except to say that I was really, really depressed.
