But if you're not, if it's only f/f and m/m friendships you can't/won't believe cross the line into romantic relationships , it might be worth examining why. Generally, when people react negatively to "I need to be explicitly told guys are gay before I assume they're gay for each other, but don't need to be explicitly told a man and woman are heterosexual before I assume they might date", they're not trying to say "you are a bad and horrible and evil homophobic ass", they're reacting to the incredibly strong tendency to erase LGBT people by assuming they must act a certain way, must be "obviously" LGBT, and the unwillingness to examine where that tendency comes from and why it's problematic because "that's just how it is".
