I think you're misreading the secret. The OP said they still have segregated bathrooms standing, not that people are forced to use them.

Still, where the fuck is this? I've been all over rural Arkansas and Tennessee and never saw anything like this anywhere

I'm not saying that racism doesn't still exist in the South but I've never seen segregated bathrooms or water fountains anywhere here

If OP had left that "segregated bathroom" bit out, I would have bought this secret. But as is? I am guessing the OP has never been to the South and probably isn't even American. Just some kid who is bored and wants to start something.

I'm in Georgia and once every few years or so we still get local headlines about rural high schools wanting to segregate their proms. As for segregated bathrooms, I'm sure there are probably some dilapidated old buildings with them still standing somewhere in podunk backassward ruraltopia but there's no way in hell that I even believe for a second that people still use them in a segregated way.

I've never really been in the Deep South outside of the one time my family went to Biloxi, MS/Gulf Shores on vacation for like a week (where I found "Mammy" saltshakers in a gift shop, now that I think about it) and the few times I've been to Atlanta to see a band or whatever

It was really annoying when I went to college in Boston and people tried to tell me that there were parts of Connecticut that were "Southern" or that I was from the South (I hail from Southern Maryland - an extremely rural area but in no way considered by real Southerners anywhere near part of the South). Rural does not equal Southern, and urban does not equal not!Southern.

You'll probably find them in a country club. At least, the few country clubs that allow people of color, anyway.

I'm from a small town in Mississippi. The old theater had two sets of bathrooms on the same floor (for a one-projection-room movie theater). Everyone knew they were the old "white" and "colored" bathrooms, although the only signs remaining were the "men" and "women" ones and they were no longer segregated by race. I had assumed that the poster was referring to similar situations, although on rereading I agree it's somewhat ambiguous.
