Replace Nick Clegg with David Cameron, and that's me. Seriously.

And how could anyone hate NClegg? He's so awesome! \o/

(Anonymous) 2010-07-18 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I absolutely love Nick, but I would so have hate!sex with him in an instant. Wtf brain.

Also, I agree with above anon about David Cameron! Guh.

(Anonymous) 2010-07-18 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Replace Nick with George Osborne and that's me, seriously.

(Anonymous) 2010-07-18 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
David Cameron, George Osborne...nnnnfgh. Fuck yes. But as a Liberal Democrat, I disagree with them on nearly everything. But as a WOMAN with HORMONES and NEEDS, I wish to sit on both of their faces.

(Anonymous) 2010-07-19 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Anon, you could be me! I prefer George Osborne to David Cameron on wanting to have sex with though. Not that I would say no to David... or perhaps just have both of them because I am greedy like that.

(Anonymous) 2010-07-18 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I..second this...

[identity profile] x-butterfly19-x.livejournal.com 2010-07-18 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
How can you hate a lib dem?

(Anonymous) 2010-07-19 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Very, very easily.

On a person to person basis most are decent people, and you get the real bastards just a you do any other group. Anybody in politics will agree. But a a Lib Dem? Very, very easily.

Lets just say they've a long and wide spread history of playing on the dirtier side of campaigning, being rather more two-faced than the public take us all for but never get taken out on it cause they're the fuzzy pink bunnies of politics only around for ages a short time.

And seeing it all behind the scenes just makes it more... I don't know if hilarious, frustrating or plain stupid works better as a term.

Just talk to any Labour or Tory candidate up and down Britain. Or the SNP or Plaid in Scotland or Wales. Or even the Greens probably. They're pretty well known.

I mean, I hate that the Tories are in power but I know there's plenty of them cursing having to work so closely with the Lib Dems. I think there's more than a few who'd rather work with Labour than them. Hell, I've met some of those sort!

[identity profile] x-butterfly19-x.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
I must admit I did not know all that, aside from the sometimes dodgy campaign tactics. And I'm not thrilled at the coalition either- wouldn't have been my first choice.

(Anonymous) 2010-07-18 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Replace Nick Clegg with Ed Balls, same problem.

Also, kinda OT but this is the only place I can be anon to say it (lol f!s ilu) that twitter shit killed the lolitics kink meme and the main comm so hard that there's hardly any good new porn coming through, so don't worry, thanks to that you'll probably be able to start hating him again in no time. Woopie.

(Anonymous) 2010-07-19 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I am still seeing some fucking amazing porn on the meme, and the comm is still active as far as I can see, really! Also, I am writing a lot of the porn as well on the meme. Also also, I am on Twitter, and I don't think I can say a negative word about any of the people that I know through the meme and the community.

(Anonymous) 2010-07-19 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with you. Having been around the comm since very near the beginning and ever since then it hasn't been as busy. However wrong and idiotic the act was I was hoping that it would just blow over and it would go back to normal. But now people are even too scared to post certain stuff on the comm. The meme isn't doing as great either though I think everything could have been worse.

(Anonymous) 2010-07-18 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
The word is ravish, not ravage... although I guess we may be at the point where the error is so widespread that it's not worth correcting anymore.

(Anonymous) 2010-07-19 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I have no desire at all to have sex with the guy but I rather dislike him too. He sold out Britain for a few cabinet jobs and position as Deputy PM. And now look what's happening.

Yay.

Bastard.

(Anonymous) 2010-07-19 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
>He sold out Britain

The Lib Dems have ever had enough power to do that? He sold out the Liberal Democrat Party, yeah, but Britain? I think you'll find that was more Labour's fault for shifting everyone to the Conservative Party.

(Anonymous) 2010-07-19 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I think you'll find that most people voted for progressive ideas, against any rises in VAT and the violent hacks taken to spending that aren't needed and will harm many families at the poorer end of the scale and unemployment is going to rise a lot. It isn't so much a matter of if this will be a double dip recession now, more of WHEN. And I've heard more than political people around me say this.

So yes, by siding with the Tories in a coalition like they have they sold us out. Its members, those who voted for them to try and keep the Tories out and everyone who thought they were the honest, trustworthy people who were progressive but without the dirt and grime of actual government in recent times. Because they aren't a new party no matter what Clegg kept trying to hint out. They sold all of them out, and all the people who voted against Tory policies.

As themselves they didn't have tons of power, no. But they were still King Makers, still the deciders of who would have the power and how much of it. What do you think all the news stories in the days following were about?

You know what they could have done if they couldn't stand the idea of forming a progressive coalition? Let the Tories run a minority Government and take each vote, each idea on a case by case basis and acting, along with the others, as a sort of watch dog on the lot. Demand changes that kept with the progressive values they claimed to follow (and then promptly threw out the taxi as soon as they got a taste of power).

But they didn't. Why else are so many of those joining the Labour Party former Lib Dem voters/members? Why else are LD councillors up and down the country so pissed off and publicly expressing their discontent? Hell, you should see the factions this has split the local ones into.

They sold us out.

The taxi is an old joke from a bit back if you're not aware. It used to be said you could fit all the Lib Dem MPs into one taxi.

(Anonymous) 2010-07-19 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
>I think you'll find that most people voted for progressive ideas, against any rises in VAT

Wrong, the majority of the country voted Conservative. So, for the VAT rise and for "Conservative" ideas.

But YES I agree - they sound the Liberal voters out, but they did not sell the country out. We like to think that the country wants left wing but, they don't, they want right wing. That's what the polls have told us. The government has to respect the majority.

And this is coming from a Liberal Democrat voter who has been with the party actively for three years. I just hate the idea that everyone should focus their hate on the Liberal Democrats where the fall of centre-left is a mix of all three parties - Tory lies, Labour scandal and Liberal ineptness.
