I don't think he's a genius, but I think he's a great character designer and animator (or was... although people on his staff at Ghibli do most of the work nowadays). Also I wish more people would check out his older stuff, like Future Boy Conan or the episodes he did for the 2nd Lupin III tv series. I also miss the days when all of his stuff had cool planes and shit in it

Castle of Cagliostro was brilliant, but I didn't know there was an actual Lupin III anime. I must check it out now.

Lupin III has had a lot of anime on it, including three different tv series, the second of which aired partially in America. Though it never really took off in the West, Lupin III is considered to be one of the most important anime classics in Japan. Miyazaki co-directed a good deal of the first series, and fully directed two episodes of the second.
