It's the classic antagonistic relationship, always makes for good chemistry.

The beauty of the movie, though, is that you can make a pretty decent argument for anyone/anyone. Even though Arthur/Eames is the big pairing at the moment, there's still a LOT of other stuff out there. :D

The way they teased each other (well, Eames teasing Arthur) made me ship them so hard. But I also had mixed feelings over Arhur/Ariadne.

Arthur and Eames did have a fire and ice sort of thing throughout the film (Eames ragging on Arthur, Arthur seemingly annoyed by him and his comments), so I can see why it would popular. *shrugs*

Honey. Everybody knows that in fandom, two characters snarking at each other = SHIP.
If you failed to see the snark between Eames and Arthur (not to mention the way Eames was way too amused when the 'kick' concept was being demonstrated on a sleeping Arthur), then you need to rewatch the movie ;D
Otherwise, I'd say Eames/Arthur as a ship has as much credibility as Cobb/Arthur (especially given the fact that Cobb still seems pretty in love with Mal) but...to each his own, I guess.

I actually left the theater not shipping anyone. It was an amazing movie, but I was way more interested in the actual plot then who might be a good couple.

Then I poked my head into the fandom, saw that there was practically no genfic, and begrudgingly decided that I could ship Cobb/Arthur if I had to choose a pairing (I mean, besides Cobb/Mal, but that was done to death in the movie anyways), but then it looks like there are very few Cobb/Arthur fics as well. Man.

I basically only came out shipping Mal/Cobb and Mal/Ariadne, but I can see why people like that ship (or most of the ones people are digging). They had a snark relationship and Arthur didn't seem thrilled with the idea of Eames coming aboard (plus the kick scene). It was the potential between the lines. Fandom loves snark.

This is the most amusing and shippable fandom I've come across in a while. I literally ship almost EVERYTHING, I think. My faves are Robert/Cobb, Cobb/Saito, Cobb/Mal (wow i just realized cobb is my fandom bicycle), and Arthur/Eames...

I guess the movie's so damn shippable because you could make an argument for basically any couple. Nothing was really canon except for Cobb/Mal and (kinda) Arthur/Ariadne. Everyone interacted, so you could probably pick out at LEAST a little speck of ship teasing for whatever ship if you squint...

For me, the thing with Eames/Arthur was pretty much that they were snarking at and teasing each other for the whole build-up to the mission. It scanned like flirting to me, although I get that others will see it differently. By the point it got to the "dream a little bigger, darling" line that was just the icing on the cake and I was already shipping it anyway.

No, anon, it's not just about the one throw-away line. It's about the whole dynamic they have set up of Eames constantly picking on Arthur--if Arthur had pigtails, Eames would be pulling them.

I for one find Arthur/Cobb just a bit too easy to ship. Besides, I totally love Eames to bits. I just connected with him and Arthur more than with Arthur and Cobb. *shrugs* I guess everyone's different.
