It's a tucked away corner of his mind that he consciously knows is stupid and wrong, that he is fully capable of suppressing completely. I won't disagree with your reasoning OP and you're entitled to it, but anon's comments is how I saw it too; similar to saying thing you didn't mean out of anger or hurt. Most people are susceptible to agreeing or saying things when they're feeling particular passionate about something because they want any excuse to validate this suddenly shit feeling they're now experiencing.

Yep, this. If Harry's internal voice recognized the thought/feeling as a "monster" then he obviously knew it was wrong. Feeling a flash of jealousy is not the same as behaving like a jealous boyfriend. (I don't give a flip about shipping in the Potterverse, but there's my take.)

Haha that art is fantastic. Yeah... I have so very many issues with book six that is a big one. I don't think any of the character were handled so well, especially the female ones and the boys' reactions to them (don't get me started on the out of nowhere LAV-LAV).

Honestly I thought it was realistic. I really don't think you were supposed to read that and think Harry thinks she's a slut because there are absolutely no other indications of that. I think you were supposed to think Harry was having a fit of jealousy and being irrational towards both of them. Everyone is irrational occasionally and thinks things about people they don't truly feel. He didn't say it out loud and he didn't treat her with disrespect.

wow, reading the first three paragraphs of that quotation, I was convinced this was going to be a secret about crap writing in some fanfic or another. AND THEN I NOTICED IT WAS A QUOTE FROM ONE OF THE PUBLISHED BOOKS. I've obviously not reread the books very often if I can't recognize it as being JKR's.

Also this totally justifies my long-held belief that the best of the fanfic is far superior to the canon....
