Haha that art is fantastic. Yeah... I have so very many issues with book six that is a big one. I don't think any of the character were handled so well, especially the female ones and the boys' reactions to them (don't get me started on the out of nowhere LAV-LAV).

I think that was the point. Lavender was pretty, she thought Ron was pretty, 'OMG I LUV YOU LETS SNOG LOL!' That was actually a pretty realistic high school relationship, at least from my point of view.

It made her completely flat and didn't have any extra dynamics to it. Previously the hints of Lavender were nowhere near that ridiculous and then all of a sudden she was made into a plot-point stereotype so that Hermione/Ron could look better.

True, I noticed that. But then, Lavender had always been at least a little ridiculous. I think she was meant to be the anti-Hermione from the beginning.

From my perspective, I don't think that it wasn't a completely unrealistic portrayal of teen relationships, I just found all that faffing about frustrating. I kept thinking "but I wanna find out more about Voldemooooort! D="

I guess it was part of having the characters evolve from children to teenagers, but I found it a bit tiresome after a while. That said, I only managed to marathon the books once the series was finished and I was... 20, 21? So I might have been a bit beyond the demographic that part was aiming at.
