I'm not sure what makes them a canon couple. It seemed more like a joke acknowledged by both of them. (I still think that Ariadne -> Dom is way more canon.)

Well I don't think anyone is implying that Eames isn't a dick.

But, yeah, most of this movie is pretty non-shippy imo, besides the major tragic!romance between Dom/Mal (which I felt a bit guilty for shipping, honestly, just because it's so sad), but fandom has a way of warping one's perceptions.

I can see why people think that, but I didn't really get that during my first watch. IDK, to me it seemed like she was incredibly fascinated by him and his issues - almost to an obsessive degree - but not in a sexual or romantic way.

However, even though I ship Arthur/Ariadne, I agree that one spontaneous kiss does not a couple make.

I think fandom in general has a lot of trouble with the very concept of non-sexual relationships and just takes everything, everything, as a sign of either fucking or wanting to fuck.
Generally, that can be disappointing, because some of the most important relationships everyone has in their life are non-sexual.
