And in theory, baseball should have more slash than any other fandom ever: huge television audience, huge (all-male) cast, options for threesomes foursomes and moresomes, options for angstiness, options for romance, mentor/student relationships just like veteran/rookie, options for fueds and hate-sex, endless testicle jokes, options for BDSM, options to closed-caption the hand-signals with fake translations like the Hitler-rants-parrodies, and so on.

You know, after I posted that comment, I thought about it, and your idea is basically what I came up with. I was wondering, "If the World Cup produces all that slash, why doesn't the World Series do the same thing?" (We still have a few months, but still.) I mean, the players do just as much jumping and hugging and grabbing during the playoffs as the soccer players do.
