Totally. And more likeable.

I can't really say one is better, since it's a matter of taste. But I agree. I rarely like pop artists, and surprisingly I like Gaga more and more.

Not exactly the most challenging accomplishment in the universe.

I've loved Madonna longer and I think she is more influential, and I do like her music better, but I agree with the above anon that Gaga is a much more likeable person. And Gaga is still amazing! :DDD

You're so wrong.

I never get these comparisons, since Gaga's been out for just a couple of years and is already heavily biting Madonna, imo. Let's see her staying power, where she is in five years, ten years, how her sound and style evolve, etc. and then maybe I'd be willing to consider serious comparison.

As it is, she's a trendy icon of the day and not in Madonna's league for me.

I like her attitude and her music better than Madonna's. That's really enough for me.

To me it's kind of a weird comparison. GaGa is more of a David Bowie than a Madonna.

I kind of want to agree with you, but... Are we comparing the music or the artist?

While Madonna did a lot of influential stuff and made a lot of great music she comes off as a total stuck up bitch and really, her music isn't so great. Her style was more influential than her music.

I love Madge and Gaga both, but I think it's pretty obvious that Gaga is, at the very least, more -talented-. Madonna pretty much revolutionized pop music, though, so 'better' is a rough call.

OT but man I would've loved the fuss if Lady Gaga had painted that blood running down her legs from her crotch. It would've been awesome.

Oh, just give her time. I'm sure she'll do something like that eventually.

If she's relevant 20+ years later, I'll agree.

Well, Madonna is pretty terrible, but I'll give her credit for one thing. Her songs at least sound different than each other. I mean EVERY Lady GaGa song is this pattern: Makes random sounds (maybe occasionally with a lyric), talks, and then sings the lyrics. Repeat and add in generic dance music.

Oh yeah, forgot, having a stage show makes you an 'artist' and not just some pop star with 15 minutes of fame.

As other people have said, Gaga seems much more likeable. I want to see how she evolves in her music before making any big comparisons like that though.

It would help if I knew who was in the picture. Since I've no idea, I'll just pat you on the head and nod patronizingly.

Considering what Madonna was doing for women in the music industry when Stephanie was just being conceived, I'm gonna go for "just different" instead. :-)

This is not a secret. This is a fact.

Shocking, once again people are treating pop music like some kind of lower-tier genre. Madonna and Gaga have both done wonderful things as far as pop music goes, and IT IS NOT EASY TO CREATE POP MUSIC. Just try it. You go create me a song with a hook like they have in their songs, or a song that is that fucking catchy. Not so easy, I know. It's probably a lot easier to play power chords on a guitar and scream into a microphone (with no vocal finesse) about someone you love(d).

Also, love the choice of picture. That was probably my favorite moment from her concert, when she did "Monster" and went into "Alejandro," with the angel blood fountain. Yep.

Hmm. I agree.

I think Gaga is the Madonna of our generation (bringing the hype Madonna did during her major years and her fashion etc). But I love them both. And hey, without Madonna, Gaga wouldn't have become who she is right now!
