And well, most fandoms has some fans who do bad things (plagiarize, bash other fans/characters/ships, write fics full of racefail, etc.), that does not mean you should no longer be a part of the fandom and/or like the source material!

Should every fan stop liking Harry Potter because of Cassandra Cla(i)re, should every fan stop watching Supernatural because of ONE terribly racist fanfiction?

Cheer up, OP. BNF's are usually overrated mediocre artists/authors, who, more often than not, get delusions of grandeur after awhile. You can't go comparing yourself to other people all the time -- that is the way that leads to insanity.

Besides, how can you "fail" at fandom? I'm certain your work is appreciated by some. Maybe you're not allowing yourself to see it?

(And remember, Korra's coming out soonish. I'm sure if you let go and allow yourself to have fun you'll be ready for when the new fandom springs up. Won't that be fun?)
