If this were true, I believe Doctor Parnassus would have done a lot better than it did. Ya know. Considering it was his last movie and all. He wasn't a mega-superstar and I doubt most people even really cared when he died. He was a huge part of why the movie was so successful, but it's not because he passed away, it's because his acting was fucking glorious and people spread the word about it.

THIS. The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus is a wonderful film and it didn't do well - if Heath was such a big deal then you'd've thought that the success of TDK would have made it really popular? But that didn't happen.

No one thought that the Parnassus movie contributed to the state of mind that lead to Ledger taking too many pills, though.

Theres some coincidental psych problems had by Jack Nicholson, after his turn as the Joker, and everyone loves a good supernatural thrill/legend.

Heath Ledgers death definitely contributed to the movies gross, but how much is impossible to know.
