I remember sitting in the theater during that scene going... Wow, Disney went REALLY dark with this one. Haha. That would have been pretty awful if they slowly started melting and THEN were rescued...

Anyway, I don't blame you for this, OP. That part was pretty intense.

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2010-08-20 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too, I was like "Guys? Guys, you know this is a kid's movie, right?".

[identity profile] box-life.livejournal.com 2010-08-20 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It was a pretty disturbing scene and it seemed to last FOREVER. So, no one's laughing at you here. I would be curious to know the average reaction of any actual children who saw the movie. Anybody have any little siblings and want to share?

[identity profile] snowweisz.livejournal.com 2010-08-20 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I went with my cousins, and they didn't seem to mind actually.

[identity profile] chocochip-pie.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
I took the kids I nannied to go see it(late elementary-school/early middle school), and they were pretty ambivalent about the whole scene. I, on the other hand, was pretty freaked out.

[identity profile] xenafox.livejournal.com 2010-08-20 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
THAT SCENE ...!! It's been a long time since I was on the edge of my seat like that!

[identity profile] lizzigoos.livejournal.com 2010-08-20 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I was crying my eyes out at that point. I knew they weren't going to let them die like that, but damn, that was probably one of the scariest things I've ever seen.

[identity profile] ebilhamster.livejournal.com 2010-08-20 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
When we saw TS3, my friend and I were with a pretty vocal theaterful, lots of laughing during jokes and nudging/commentary throughout the film and a collective "awww" when Buster waddled in. There were some kids and babies too, of course, providing the usual kid-and-baby soundtrack.

During that scene, the entire audience was just dead silent.

[identity profile] pineapplebites.livejournal.com 2010-08-20 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
My face during that scene was very D8

just... wtf Disney. KIDS. MOVIE.

[identity profile] spider-rogue.livejournal.com 2010-08-20 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
You're not alone. I'm so glad this movie came out when I was 18, rather than 8. I mean, I was so traumatized by the forest fire scene in Bambi that I haven't been able to watch it since, so...

[identity profile] twilightedge.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Same. Just even thinking about maybe wanting to watch Bambi makes me halt in my head. XD

The rain scene always bothered me, I think it's because it was really dramatic and I thought everyone was going to die. XD And then of course, his Mom died and then...the fire and then his Dad just leaves him...yeah. o_O

[identity profile] la-petite-singe.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my God, are you kidding? I sobbed from the beginning of that scene straight to the end. Nonstop. I haven't cried that hard at a movie in YEARS. Fucking nightmare fuel.

[identity profile] darcerin.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
You and me both! I really thought Disney was going to end the movie like that! And then that end scene...omg, my dad and I were *sobbing*!!

[identity profile] missing-mile-15.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
The movie totally fooled me on that part. I sat there thinking "Well, I guess that's one way to end a franchise D8", and was relieved when they got rescued. I saw it with my family, and everyone was crying, it was so fucking intense.

[identity profile] endingonfire.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Fucking motto'd, OP. That scene traumatized me to the point of tears.

[identity profile] streetcake.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
During that scene my mom turned to me and said, lightheartedly , "Hey if you saw this as a kid you would've been scarred for life, huh?"

And I was shaking bodily from how hard I was crying.

you're not alone, OP.

[identity profile] simplefaith08.livejournal.com 2010-08-22 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, don't even trip. I was clutching on to my purse like it was a teddy bear, and all I could think was "They're not going to do it. They're not going to do it...right? :O" For a second I thought they were going to kill them all off and "reincarnate" them or something (especially since I had heard that the ending made everyone cry). And then of course I cried like a baby at the end.

I keep hearing that kids who saw this movie were fine, but most of the people my age (college-aged)/older that saw it were essentially wrecks! xD

(Anonymous) 2010-08-22 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to say that this was about when the waterworks started the first time I saw it. But for me it wasn't the fact that they were in the incinerator, it was when they held hands and accepted death. That part got me. Holy crap.

Second time I saw it my friend was clutching my hand and begging me to tell her if they made it out. It's pretty intense. And I'm 20.

(Anonymous) 2010-08-23 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
I do not mind crying at a movie because it's sad or it moves me somehow. I DO mind crying at a movie, though, because it scares me. I sobbed so hard at this scene because I was utterly terrified for everyone, and it truly did feel like that was going to be the end of the movie. God, what an awful scene.
