I really hope that you are okay now, and that you are getting help, and that the number of people who were scared at Johnny's thinness let you know that that kind of look is not attractive, desirable or healthy.

I'm also a former ED suffer and seeing people aghast at Johnny's appearance in Vancouver made me happy to be in recovery, because I look better now. And since the season has ended Johnny does, too.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but anorexia is not healthy and Johnny patently was not just thin or naturally slender, all his ribs were sticking out because he wasn't eating enough to keep him healthy. He was pale and sometimes looked pretty sick. There is a really big difference between "thin" and "eating disordered." And Johnny is majorly fucked up about food - he makes extremely alarming comments all the time - and his fandom is aware of it.

Here's what you're missing- society tells us thin is attractive- if it didn't, we wouldn't have such an issue with eating disorders like anorexia.

Equally society tells us that fat is unattractive and there are a lot of negative stereotypes to go with it. It doesn't matter if someone is 20 pounds overweight or 200 pounds overweight, fat is "bad".

People are already telling the overweight they're unattractive, they don't need to be told anymore. But those who are especially thin and have eating disorders need to be told that what they're doing is wrong, because they can easily be rewarded for that type of behavior (think of your typical model and the media.) Severe eating disorders can do a lot of damage to your body, FAST. Much more then being 20 pounds overweight will.

Basically, few people are fat on purpose (and if they are, yes they probably need help just as much as any person with an eating disorder) but many people are thin to the point of unhealthy on purpose, and it needs to stop.

And overweight =/= obese. There's a difference.
