I started watching because I was out of good anime and my friend (who also watches anime,) suggested I give it a try. At first my thoughts were all about, "How can they get this so wrong? They don't even know what their premise is: revenge, hunting, finding dad? Will Sam ever get an ounce of personality? Will they ever make town folks look real and not like dolled up Hollywood actors? Will we ever get to care about anyone on the show?"

Then season one finale hit. And I fell so hard I still haven't gotten up.

EXACTLY the same. (Except for the anime part.)

Won't spoiler you for S5 in case you haven't seen it, but the ending? I cried. So, so much. I have no idea how I went from 'what the hell, this shit is preposterously silly' to 'omg kripke, don't you dare do that to my character, i love them too much', but I did. And I'm kinda glad I did.

Yes I saw S5 finale but I didn't cry because I was simply numb. I had held so many tears back during the "Let's smash Dean to itty bitty pieces and stomp on them," marathon (all the episodes before 'Point of No Return') that my tear ducts were clogged. There were so many emotions - least of which remembering how this was the end of an epic storyline that had me in its grip so hard it wasn't even funny - that I couldn't connect all that to the silly little waste of time glam show I thought at first this was.

This was the first show that choked me up not because of a character's death, but because of the sheer magnitude of what was happening to him, and that was a first.
