Seems like a decent place to ask.. I was thinking about getting a PS3 for console exclusives. I already have a pretty sweet gaming PC. Is this a good idea?

The PC wouldn't have anything to do with that then, unless you think the PS3 games wouldn't hold your attention long enough. I'd say if there's five games on that console that you really want to play, but can't come across them on PC or whatever else you own, then go for it.

Yes, not only for the games, but for Blu-Ray as well. Absolutely worth it if you've got an HDTV that's 1080p - you'll notice (and adore) the difference.

Oh yeah, this. When I was able to borrow a spare HDMI cable and hook it up to this monitor, I was blown right the fuck away. Ain't never going back to standard.

Apart from the ApocalyPS3, I've never had a problem with mine. I wish it had a bigger hard drive, but that's because it's an older model. Getting one now, it would have plenty of space.
It's a good console. It's potentially a great one, but Sony just can't seem to get their head in the game. It pretty much does everything for free that you have to pay extra for on the Xbox. And in all the time I've owned it, it has never, ever, not once called me fat.

Hard drives are super easy to swap out. Just get yourself any old 2.5" SATA notebook drive. It took me about 3 minutes (minus backup time) to change out a 60 for a 250 and I suck at these kind of things. There are lots of guides available on the internet too. Doing the backup is kind of a pain (you'll need an external hard drive or a USB drive and it takes a good while) but once you get all that sweet, sweet space, it's well worth it.

I would, only backing stuff up is the problem. The problem with the backup is that the drive needs to be FAT32 or the PS3 won't recognize it, and I don't have a FAT32 drive of that size.

I would say yes if you can afford it, especially if you can get your hands on one of the models that still has PS2 backwards compatibility.
