idk man, when someone continuously forces something on me... I can get pretty prickly about it and just be all "NO, I WILL NOT FUCKING JOIN GAIA, NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU PUSH." Especially when said people sit there and just GET DEEP with it despite my "guys I'm not really interested really come on now..."

So I mean... I can see where they're coming from. I don't think it makes them an asshole.

But's it's like, SURELY the topic hasn't come up before where the OP could go "Hey guys, I'm not interested in anime for X reason (even if it has to be BS), so no talky with me, mkay?"? I mean, most anime fans I know including myself would respect that if they came out and said something. If it's THAT big a deal to them, why can't they come out and say it in an entry (without being the douche they were in the secret) to their LJ instead of making a fandomsecret?

That and I cannot stand the word "weeaboo" worth a damn and think that anyone who would use that to describe a "friend" isn't a friend at all.

I know people who that wouldn't work with - they would (and do) "forget" and continue to push and continue to push. I've run into plenty that just really don't take no for an answer - sometimes in really passive-aggressive ways, but regardless, it's like "dammit, I do not care about this, stop steering the conversation to it or making intentionally glaring references to it in everyday conversation."

Weeaboo isn't like a racial slur or something. And they didn't call anyone that - they just said they weren't it themselves.

I dunno, it may not be a racial slur, but it is like a racial slur, the way some people use it. It's bashing everyone who takes an interest in any media that comes out of a certain country. Always seemed kind of xenophobic and creepy to me.
