Oh I could've written this. I'm a 29-year-old bi male and actually just dropped several hundred dollars to get a custom-made MMPR blue ranger costume so I could be Billy for Halloween. I love him that much and even more after that interview/announcement. REPRESENT. I always wanted to be a Power Ranger when I was a kid (even though I was way too old to be in the show) and dammit I AM GOING TO DO IT NOW.

Billy. <3 Oh God, the interview I saw of him discussing this made me cry. I lost it at the part about, "They told me that because of who I am, I couldn't be a superhero." Maybe that shouldn't be the thing that hits me hardest given all the other, more grounded-in-reality shit that he went through, but somehow it just destroys me. I haven't watched Power Rangers since I was nine, but I still get this happy-warm nerd-squee feeling whenever I see shots of the original MMPR team, and all of this coming out just makes me so sad and so proud all at once.

...And, yeah, it does kind of make me want to be a Power Ranger all over again.

I don't know, man, see video posted above. :\ That's so, SO disappointing to me. I hate that he went through that. At least Thuy Trang looked annoyed, though, and I know he went to her funeral, so I'm assuming they were friends. And in as much as she basically introduced me to my semi-gayness...yeah. That video (his interview) made me cry, when he was talking about trying to get 'de-gayed' and when he sent a message to all the kids out there going through the same thing... :( It was both awesome, because he's now out and doing better, and heartbreaking.

In my head-canon, all the homophobic d-bags get kidnapped by Rita and Zedd. And the PRs are like "... You know, actually, we're really kind of busy today. We've gotta... you know... paint the Command Center. And then watch it dry. But hey, good luck!"

Perhaps this is embarrassing enough that it shoulda been a secret itself, but thinking about it that way helps me. I'm still shaken up about this interview and I want my childhood heroes to show up and make it okay. =(

And the gay superhero stuff made me want a gay Red Ranger who's out and awesome and kicks ass and is the best leader ever.

I was no fan of the Power Rangers, but this is so saddening to hear. To face bullying at work is one of the worst things ever, especially over something so personal. And it's always a let down to learn actors you admire are jerks irl.
I hope JYB was not among those who harassed him.
