Mark is this guy who has, I believe, made it a habit to stay away from all of the hype of the books. I think at first it was because he wasn't interested in it, but he was told he should read Twilight a few years ago, and so he started a blog that detailed his thoughts as they happened just to get them down. After a while people started reading the blog just because it's kind of neat to see his honest opinions as he's reading the books.
He, uh, hated Twilight (to say the least) and people started telling him to do Harry Potter, so he's promised to read the Harry Potter series chapter by chapter and put up a review of each on his blog after he finishes.
What makes it very exciting and fun to read is, I think, seeing a grown man (and not a little kid who can't organize his thoughts properly) that knows what he's talking about when it comes to literary criticism. It's a very candid, honest thing, and he doesn't hide any of his theories, so for fans of the series, it can just be a fun thing to see how a random guy takes in Harry Potter when he's first introduced to it. For me, it's almost like I'm reliving it myself. /shrug
